Welcome to

Cindy's Corner

Similar to Hunger First itself, our mission is to encourage and empower our low-income, no-income, and homeless of our community in self-care, independence, and creative expression. We help by providing the space, time, equipment, and materials to support individuals who do not otherwise have access to these resources.

General Resources Program

General Resources Program

With our literacy program, we aim to assist people with learning to read and write, providing in person and online help, as well as a free lending library and access to online books. We also help write resumes, help fill out applications, and use online and word of mouth resources for job openings. The literacy program includes GED assistance where we find the resources in our community and online to complete your GED, providing tutoring in basic math and writing.

General Resources Program

Our general resources program is meant to help with documentation resources including navigating applications for government assistance, (i.e. food stamps, housing applications, disability, unemployment, etc...). We also assist with acquiring driver's licenses as well as renewals/reinstatements. Via the general resources program, we also provide mental health and addiction resources. We also educate regarding street living tips and resources, including safety and provision of items to manage weather and environment.

(NOTE: Shades of Grace will help you with obtaining an ID; we do not aim to take away from the help they already provide.)

Health and Wellness Program

The main goal of our health and wellness program is to provide education and supplies for basic first aid, but we also will teach about general health practices, including disease and infection prevention, as well as assist as we are able with supplies for health maintenance. We also plan to educate and foster positive mental attitude, gratitude, affirmations and self-talk to help lift up and motivate for positive personal change.
